SHINBONE TIBIA SHELL

Tibia fusus Linnaeus

The Shinbone Tibia shell has a slender, elegant spire and a graceful siphonal canal. It is sometimes called the spindle tibia. The smallest whorls have sleek spiral ridges, and the rest of the whorls on this shell are smooth with the exception of the spiral furrows on the base of the body whorl. The color of this shell is a pale brown and white at the aperture. This shell is a favorite of collectors and fetched over $100 in the earliest days of its discovery.

This shell is found in the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean.

There are only six species of Tibia shells known to man.
